Experience

Aberdeen Brickett, soprano, is a second year student getting a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a focus in Classical Voice. Aberdeen studies with Dr. Malinda Haslett and Scott Wheatley at the Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine. She made her operatic debut singing with the OperaMaine Children's Chorus in Bizet's Carmen. Other operatic credits include Wagner's The Flying Dutchman (OperaMaine), Verdi's Aida (OperaMaine), Bach's St. Matthew Passion (Portland Symphony Orchestra Choir), Puccini's La Boheme (OperaMaine), and Penhorwood's Too Many Sopranos (Osher Opera Theatre). Aberdeen recently played the role of Zita in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi with the Osher Opera Theatre at the Osher School of Music and  recently starred as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II, also with the Osher Opera Theatre. 

In her first year at the University of Southern Maine, Aberdeen sang with the Osher School of Music's Bella Voce Choir under the direction of Dr. Michele Kaschub. She is currently a member of the Chamber Singers, led by Dr. Kyle Neilsen. Over the past year, Aberdeen earned first place in Division IV of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition and received the prestigious Ellen Chickering Award. Recently elected treasurer of the Osher School of Music’s Student American Choral Directors Association (SACDA), she is committed to fulfilling her role with diligence and accuracy, ensuring that all financial decisions align with the organization’s goals. Driven by a passion for choral music, Aberdeen hopes to inspire fellow musicians and strengthen connections within the community of emerging artists across southern Maine.
